1. Why to go for slipring motor only ? Can we use a Sq. Cage motor instead of a Slipring motor ? Slipring motors are used where high starting torque and large No. of starting and reversals are required. A Squirrel Cage motor cannot be used instead of a slipring motor. But cage motors may be used where speed control is not necessary and where the choice is governed by reduced cost considerations, robust construction and less maintainance. 2. In case of Sq. Cage motor whether it is possible to remove fan / fan cover and fit brake on the shaft ? No, It will affect the motor cooling. Motors can be supplied with suitable brake mounting arrangement by providing shaft extension at NDE side at extra cost. 3. Whether Crane Duty motors are suitable for S4 or S5 duty , % age CDF. No. Of Starts/Hr. Rotor V/A as per requirements. Yes. Crane Duty motors are designed for S3,S4 and S5 duty in 25/40/60/100% CDF and Max No of Starts/hr upto 300. Rotor V/A as per related chart given on this website. 4. Is single cylindrical or Taper shaft extension, Double cylindrical or Taper shaft extension. Possible ? Can be supplied as per requirements. 5. Whether separate Terminal Box is provided for Rotor terminal connection in Crane Duty motors ? No, Rotor terminals are brought in the main T.Box itself. 6. What is the difference between Std. Slipring motor and Crane Duty slipring motor. Performancewise these motors are
different. In any case Standard slipring motor cannot be used as
crane duty motor. |
